Liebster Award!

I was nominated by TheLocalMuse!
Thank you so much!

So apparently I've been nominated for something! I have absolutely no idea why, but there you go. Thank you!

The rules: Answer the 11 questions asked by the person that nominated you, list 11 random facts about yourself, and nominate 11 people with new questions written by you! And tell them they've been nominated. Obviously.

Questions to Answer:

1. What is the saddest book you have ever read?
Probably a tie between The Book Thief, and Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. So many tears :(.

2. Do you write in your books while you read them?
NO! I used to take notes in my course books, but never my personal copies.

3. What literary character are you thinking about naming your future children after? (Come on, I know you've got someone in mind!)
I would name my daughter Hermione if I could get away with it :P. But I'm not going to actually subject her to that.

4. What book are you really excited to start?
Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas!

5. What's your favourite hot beverage? (or cold if you don't like hot)

6. What's one of your favourite book to movie (or tv show or mini series) adaptations?

7. What tv show are loving right now?
The Simpsons, Family Guy, American Dad, Brickleberry, The Big Bang Theory... I could go on :P.

8. What celebrity would you want to play you in a story about your life?
Hmmmm... I'm gonna go with Renee Zelwegger because of her role as Bridget Jones :).

9. Approximately how many unread books do you think you own?
I refuse to include ebooks in this count! REFUSE! Physical books I own and I haven't read: 72! And I have more on the way in the mail right now...

10. What are some of your favourite poems/poets?
I do love me some Shakespeare sonnets. I don't really have a favourite peom though.

11. What is your favourite board or card game?
Monopoly probably.

Random Facts:

1. I own 3 pet rats! Their names are: Marshmellow (male), Kit-Kat (female), and Muffin (female). They are adorable and very friendly :).

2. I am a plant killer... Flowers never survive in my home. Gifting them to me is a form of death sentence.

3. I love to bake! I hate to clean up after myself though :P.

4. I like playing The Sims 4 (used to play the sims 3 and a litte  sims 2).

5. I do attempt to do adult gymnastics. I'm terrible at it!

6. I owe my love of reading to the Harry Potter series <3.

7. I'm actually Norwegian, but I was thrown into a British school when I was 7 and I now speak english much better than norwegian.

8. I used to have another book blog (it lasted a few weeks and I later deleted it) that I dedicated to reading and reviewing the classics... It put me in a massive reading slump! This blog now exists as a place of memes, tags and readathons, and I have no plans to start reviewing anything anytime soon. I just want to have fun here :).

9. I currently have 2 subscribers. One of them subscribed to me a few months ago before I sort of abandoned this blog for a few months (oops). The other one is my fiance...

10. My job requires so little brain power that I can listen to audio books while doing it! (score!)

11. I am currently trying to finish a Bachelor's degree in biology.

My Questions:

1. What's your favourite pizza topping?
2. Do you have any pets?
3. Have you ever saved an insect type thing from being smushed my cars/pedestrians? (I used to save snails and worms from the road on rainy days)
4. Do you play any computer games?
5. Do you keep your read and unread books together or apart?
6. Have you read Harry Potter? (please say yes, please say yes, please say yes)
7. Do you listen to audio books?
8. Have you ever broken a bone?
9. What's your favourite ice cream flavour?
10. Do you take the dust cover off your book while reading it?
11. What are you the most scared of?

People I'm Nominating:

Again, thank you so much for nominating me TheLocalMuse! :)

Top Ten Tuesday (#2): Characters you wish would get their own book!

This weekly meme is hosted over at TheBrokeAndTheBookish!

Top ten characters you wish would get their own books!
Ooooooo, this is gonna be fun! There are so many non-main characters I always wished I could read more about! These characters will be in no particular order.

1. Hermione Granger from Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling
I would absolutely LOVE to get inside Hermione's head properly! I would love a book set in her 3rd year where we can experience what it was like for her to use the time turner! I would also love to read about her life after the end of the series.

2. Fred or 3. George Weasley  from Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling

I can't promise this will be the last Harry Potter related character... I would love to read all about Fred and George's adventured in inventing! I would especially love to read about their 7th year at Hogwarts because I just loved all the pranks they pulled on Umbridge!

4. Bill or 5. Charlie Weasley from Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling
I would love to read all about their careers as treasure hunters and dragon carers!

6. Chaol Westfall from Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas

I know we get some scenes from his perspective but I want more!

7. Gale Hawthorne from The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

I still wish Katniss and Gale had ended up together... I would like to read about what he did while Katniss was busy trying not to die.

8. Ginny Weasley from Harry Potter by J. K. Rowling
Something set in her 1st year would be really interesting.

9. Molly Weasley from Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling
I would love to read about her entire life, but especially about raising the Weasley brood.

10. Tom Marvolo Riddle from Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling
I'd like to read all about his life leading up to Voldemort.

That was HARD!! I was running out of characters by number 7! Sorry for all the Harry Potter characters, I can't help it, I want to read all about them!

I know, I know, not very red this one, but there are other editions of this with redder covers :P. I had to read this for school, and it's one of the few obligatory reads I really enjoyed :).

6420988
I swear it looks more red than pink in person! This is the 6th book in the Morganville Vampires Series. I'm way behind...

17167166
Ok, this one might be a bit more orange than red... I adored this book!

And there you have it! I hope you enjoyed my "red" books :).

Chills and Thrills Readathon Spell-It-Out Challenge!

Spell-It-Out Challenge!
This challenge is hosted by APerfectionCalledBooks who is also one of the hosts for this readathon!

The Challenge: pick one of the following words: Ghost, Witch, Zombie, Howl or choose your own spooky word and using each letter, find a title of a book you've read this year to "spell-it-out".

Considering the fact that I had no "e" or "r" titles, this was kinda hard. But I prevailed, and after much googleing (don't judge me), I found a word! Huzzah!

Gone by Michael Grant
Hunger by Michael Grant
Origins by Kristen Middleton
Under the Skin by Michel Faber
Luxe, The by Anna Godbersen
Infinite Sea, The by Rick Yancey
Say Her Name by James Dawson
Hours on the Moon, 172 by Johan Harstad

Done! That's all for now :).

Here is my teaser (from the short story: Naming of Parts by Tim Lebbon):

His father fired the shotgun and one of the rotting dead people hit the glistening road. It - Jack could not even discern its sex - squirmed and slithered, unable to regain its deformed feet.

I'm Back? + Reading Cram 2.0: Chills and Thrills Readathon! Sign Up Post

Hello!
I know, I know, I'm terribly inconsistent when it comes to doing the whole "blog" thing.
But I'm back to try again!
Why am I back? Because it's Readathon time!

Reading Cram 2.0: Chills and Thrills Readathon!
Hosted by:

This will be my first ever Readathon! Yay! I absolutely love Halloween; although I'm a complete wimp when it comes to scary stuff...
Let me explain:
  • Zombies: No problem! Love them!
  • Mass murdering psychopaths? No problem! Although I wouldn't watch a movie like "Chainsaw Massacre" or "Saw" alone.
  • Werewolves/Vampires/Witches: Again, no problem!
  • Ghosts/Anything to do with hauntings: OMFG I can't go to the bathroom by myself for days (I wish I was exaggerating)!
  • Psychological Thriller type stuff: See above.
So yeah... This ought to be interesting.

This readathon runs from today (24.10.2014) to Halloween (31.10.2014), and we pretty much have to read as many books as we can/want within the following categories:
  • Paranormal
  • Witches
  • Zombies
  • Vampires
  • Werewolves
  • Thriller
  • Mystery
  • Pretty much anything creepy...
There will also be daily challenges which I hope to take part in!

That's all for now :)

Top 5 Wednesday (#1): Top 5 Books You Struggled To Finish

Hi-diddly-ho neighbourino!

Look! Another Meme! With Lists! Are we seeing a pattern here? No? Ok, just me then.

This meme of awesomeness is created by gingerreadslainey! To see the full list of awesome fantastic participants, please go here.

This weeks topic is: Top 5 books you struggled to finish.

I read over 500 pages of this and then set it aside for about 2 years! I only very recently finished this, and only because I wanted it off my TBR pile. I love anything zombie, but this book got too political for me...

I ended up really liking this book. I just found it a bit slow in the beginning. Once I pushed through though, I got addicted :P.

This was not my favourite. I did like it, but that was about it. The subject matter is really difficult, and considering the premise, not much happens...

This is another book I liked, but nothing more. It took me forever to read this as I never really got very invested in that characters, and found parts of it quite boring.

The last book in the trilogy. I did end up really liking it, but I struggled with the maturity (or lack thereof) of the characters. As 16/17-year-olds they were often less mature than Harry Potter at age 11 :P.

So there you go! That was my list. What books would you include in this list? Did you participate in Top 5 Wednesday this week? If so, please leave a link and I'll be sure to check out your list! :)

Toodles :)
